and here they are, alphabetically
after 30 hours in the car, round trip to South Carolina, with four kids, 26.2 miles will seem like nothing
because at last year's marathon, I put Liam's shirt on backward, and Bridgett still hasn't forgiven me for it
because cancer sucks
because I can
because I'm turning 40 this year
because Liam is so darn cute (and bossy)
believe it or not, I think training has helped me organize my life
did I mention fundraising?
Excluding some slow pitch softball, and coed flag football in the 90’s, I haven’t done anything this competitive since my days at Bryant
for all the great nurses on Ellison 17
for any one who doubts I can do it
for Bridgett, for running for Liam in 2009
for Declan
for Deven
for Dr. Friedmann
for every card, call, email, prayer, gift, dollar, meal, errand, and baby-sitter we received during treatment, and still continue to receive
for every family we met at MGH
for Fitzy and his upcoming 1st birthday!
for Jayne, the nurse who sang 28 choruses of “the wheels on the bus” to keep Liam (and me) calm while he got an echocardiogram
for Julie
for Julie, for running for Liam in 2007 and 2008
for Liam
for MGH
for Mrs. Parent and all her current and former Depaolo Middle school students
for myself
for Nancy Antin, who could teach us all a thing about running, ran for MGH in 2008, and has the best place to live on the marathon route
for proton beam radiation, that zapped Liam’s tumor bed, yet hopefully spared much of the surrounding tissue
for something to blog about
for the Child Life specialists
for the music therapy program
for the Pre-Marathon Pasta Party
for Tom and Melissa for organizing blood drives in honor of Liam
for yet another Blood Drive
I love strawberry banana GU Energy Gel
I love the signs the kids make to cheer on the runners
I still get excited after completing the 1st mile of any run, because a year and a half ago, I couldn’t make it to the end of my own street
I think i get a free t-shirt
if I can do this, I can do anything
If I finish, I get to pick who runs for Liam next year
if Valerie Bertinelli can do it, so can I
it will be an amazing experience
it's required if you live in Massachusetts
It’s a good excuse for (another) tattoo
It’s fun to train in New England in the winter
it’s painful every time I hear about someone else suffering from cancer
life is getting busy, I better do this now
my wii fit age ranges from 5 - 10 years older than I really am
running is the only way to get some alone time :)
so I can get my own 26.2 bumper sticker
so I never have to do it again
so my mom will make me a photobook
So that Liam never gets sick again
testing the theory that you can do anything you put your mind to
to be a role model for my kids
to be healthy
to do something great
to explore Mansfield, and neighboring towns, by foot
to fundraise
to hear the crowds cheering me on
to increase cure rates for childhood cancers
to inspire someone else
to promote pediatric cancer awareness
to prove I’m the most superior athlete in my family (that’s for MB & Bob)
to see all the MGH'ers at mile 20
to see Liam at mile 20
to see Owen, Jack and Troy at mile 23
to spend more time outdoors
training in Myrtle Beach
whenever I think I’m having a bad day, this keeps everything in perspective
